Hispanic Republicans Still Talk Like Liberals.

Pandering to undocumented migrants will backfire for GOP.
If Republican Party capitulated to Latino's affirmative action holdover pressures to succumb to Liberal reckless amnesty for undocumented aliens, the gains would be short lived anyway.  In the process, the Republican Party would lose its political and ideological distinctions by continually being held hostage anytime it did not relent to other Liberal advocacies.  It is time for the Republican Party to re-evaluate various components of its image and either redefine or reinforce shared and common principles and goals.  There has to be a balance between leadership style and interests from common beliefs which bind the essence of being Republican.  It is better to be respected for standing on well defined principles, instead appeasing population segments whose loyalty will only last until they demand other government draining and patriotic fragile handout programs.

California Republican Party recently hosted a Latino Republican townhall conference at the February 2012 convention in Burlingame.  The event is worthy of giving the CAGOP chairman an applause for initiating the effort to focus an entire gathering to just Latino concerns.  Unfortunately, typically unsurprising, every Latino Republican given opportunity to speak only had one basic script which was essentially, "I want, I want, I want, but at the expense of others, not from my wallet." Not once in that entire period, nor even from past gatherings, have I heard any GOP Latino titular leader offer to initiate commitments to develop solutions which would not be tainted with the usual Liberal cost draining and patriotic eroding consequences.  Most Latino Republicans sound more like surrogates for the Democratic Party, than any genuine concern to empower the Republican Party.  Instead, the bulk of Latino Republicans seem to pressure the GOP  to pander, surrender and become a blurred version of Liberal positions on handling the plague of illegal aliens, hundreds of thousands escaping their native countries after committing serious crimes. They are aiming to dilute GOP distinctions by yielding to the Democratic Party's propensities to spend law abiding citizens' resources to enable freeloaders, and aloow other people to believe that self-serving economic interests are synonymous with U.S. patriotism.  Many Latino Republicans may be identified as conservative, but only with their own wallets.  They are Liberal with other peoples' monies to solve the dilemmas within their own cultural communities.  Unfortunately, U.S. mainstream established taxpayers are being dragged into mono-cultural situations which yield sparse dividends for their own lives.

Raising Hispanic American Republican leverage to more sophisticated credibility.
Within the Republican Party, there is no credible collective endeavor to provide recognition for outstanding leadership achievements by Latino or Hispanic Republicans.  Those who manage to run for public office or actually win cannot attribute their success to any organized Latino Republican organization.  It is time to initiate and reinforce how we  (as I too am an Hispanic American) want to define ourselves collectively within the GOP political scope.  I recommend the following ideas which apply to any other leadership ambitious Republican:
  1. Quit pandering to incompetent, inconsistent Republicans, of any cultural heritage, who just talk the talk and rarely follow up on their leadership pledges and objectives beyond self-serving gains.
  2. Mutual respect and appreciation for other people's cultural heritage exemplifies courtesy,  social class, and public depth.
  3. In leadership politics, it is customary to reciprocate cooperation and collaboration for continued alliances.
  4. Latino men must sever archaic attitudes of macho chauvinists.  Women must be regarded as intellectual equal partners anytime their contributions warrant cerebral abilities.
  5. There is more to leadership functions that just asking for monies and other support without delivering on whatever promises are made to persuade other people's support.
  6. Do not spout off lofty ideas if you are not willing to follow through yourself.
  7. Upgrade social and communication skills which is a constant learning experience, but an asset in becoming relevant as our American society continues to be more diverse from many levels.

We grassroots Republicans deserve to mandate leadership reforms.

I initiated San Francisco's only intelligent, not sound bite driven, 21st century enlightened conservative club, San Francisco Republican Alliance, Bay Area, since 1999 with initial roots in 1952.  I was inspired to focus in drawing more attention to Republican grassroots points of views.  The political hierarchy and professional news media neglect intelligent, articulate and street savvy Middle America Republicans who have become, ironically, casualties of arrogant, condescending and community remote Republican leaderships.   Hundreds of thousands of previously loyal, diehard Republicans have shifted their energies and loyalties to Tea Party movements which have their own  intellectually stagnating problems. Archaic traditional Republican leaders remain oblivious to their failures in connecting with neglected middle classes by shifting the blame game to Tea Party movements and Democrats. They still think that election pandering will pacify us.

I witnessed too many Republicans gravitating to Tea Party rallies just to transfer their incessant whining from one political venue to another.  Many of these Tea Party Republicans displayed timidity from seeking remedy and solutions within the Republican Party.  Their contribution to the Tea Party movement is as lackluster, predictable and uninspiring as when they were just Republican, as I know too many of those.  What dribbles out of their mouths, passing for political depth, is as bland as their narrow perception of global cultural history.

The Republican Party, especially in San Francisco Greater Bay Area, my home base, has become a prolific magnet for leadership ambitious individuals whose main talent is their narcissism minus any authentic public leadership credentials. They are under the delusion that aiming total blame at Democrats is sufficient qualification for public leadership.  Many of them, I suspect, would sell us out (and have) in exchange for some self-serving springboard to some political appointment at the expense of betraying fellow Republicans.  The corruption of ethics, integrity and other leadership expectations is not uncommon within corridors of California Republican Party leaderships transcending to local ranks. Blaming the woes of our Republican Party's image on the Democrats is to conveniently deflect attention away from the actual inner Party culprits.

There is a major difference between far right wing bible thumping fundamentalists from more contemporary and sophisticated conservatives with a more practical grip on the 21st Century.  I believe it is a downright hypocrisy to advocate quality of life in the womb, and neglect addressing the quality of life for children once out of the womb.  There are no known, or audible movements within the Republican conservatives lobbying to increase laws, penalties and resources to protect children and teenagers from physical and emotional scars inflicted upon them often by  adults with a warped sense of morality and delusional spiritual righteousness.

Middle class Republicans should be more vocally demanding of Republican politicians and threaten to withhold votes and donations if they do not make a contractual commitment to surrender a percentage of their tax supported paychecks, pensions and other perks before they seek to increase taxes on middle classes and reduce taxes for all those profitable corporations who continue to transfer substantial monies offshore, to export jobs at inhumane wages, and hire illegals in their personal domiciles.  Whatever happened to individual responsibility and accountability by all Republicans?  Soviet Communism failed because the politically powerful and rich deliberately maneuvered to rule through exploitation, fear and economic instability for the lower classes - not unlike what is gradually occurring in our homefront.

It is an acceptable tradition within most Republican Party leaderships, whether salaried or volunteer, to presume that "communicating and pontificating at" defines public outreach.  Sound bites pass for intellectually useful information and education.  Displays of arrogance, aloofness, frozen Mona Lisa grins, and limp handshakes pass for social etiquette.  Loyalty to Republican distinctions of values and principles should not be synonymous to blind loyalty to political leaders breaching moral behavior, ethics and integrity.  As proud Republicans, it is incumbent on us to  expos dishonest actions and condescending behaviors by any Republican with leadership title.  It is they who must prove to be worthy of our respect and trust.  We should not betray our personal convictions to publicly defend,  justify or even deny leadership behavior which, by any and all moral and ethical standards, is inferior and imposes negative repercussions.  All politicians and leaders must be held personally accountable for their actions and decisions, regardless of political affiliation.  No one forced them to accept the scepter and mantle of public leadership.  Since They want the job and perks, they have the extra burden of leadership transparency and performance.

My future blogs will share more ideas, recommendations and proposed solutions with which we grassroots based Republicans can initiate reforms for higher leadership standards worthier of our trust and support.  Becoming pawns for a bunch of elitist wannabe's and self-perpetuating greedy politicians, even if Republican, is not respectful, nor favorable to our constitutional rights.

My first slice of recommendation is that we threaten to withhold our volunteerism (as in free labor) and our other contributions until Republican candidates and leaders increase are more responsive to legislative directions we want as middle class taxpayers, not what the deep pocket lobbyists seek usually at our expense.

When I or any of my grassroots Republican colleagues are blasted for daring to criticize some Republican icon wannabe, I just ask them if they plan to pay me to be their public relations flunky.  If not, then I tell them that it is my freedom to express what is truthful of lousy, untrustworthy leadership even from the Republican Party.  As Republicans, it is our right to play a role in improving what may seem a 'house of cards",  not unlike how we would apply aggressive efforts to spare our homes and businesses from crumbling, not to perpetuate bloated egos and self-serving agendas.
